Meet Ivanka

G’day, I’m Ivanka – artist, animal lover, and proud Dayboro local.

If you’d told me a year ago I’d be spending my days covered in paint, I would’ve laughed and said, “Not me!” I’ve always believed I wasn’t creative. I built my career in business consulting and process improvement – the kind of work where structure, spreadsheets, and systems rule the day.

But deep down, there was always a little spark. One of my favourite memories from primary school was when our art teacher would walk around the room and scribble something on our blank pages. That tiny doodle became the start of a whole new world – we’d turn it into whatever we imagined. I loved it. I just didn’t realise that love was still tucked away somewhere inside me.

Fast forward to 2024. My mum came to visit from the Netherlands, and we decided to try painting together for a bit of fun. One thing led to another, and now I paint every single day. What started as a way to spend time with Mum has become something much bigger – a passion I never knew I had.

These days, you’ll find me experimenting with colour, chasing the wild beauty of Queensland skies, and getting lost in fluid art. I’m especially drawn to pinks, purples, and blues – they remind me of sunsets, gum leaves, and summer storms rolling over the paddocks. Each painting is a little piece of my world, shaped by the bush around me, my Dutch roots, and the life I’ve built here on our small farm with horses, dogs, chickens, and a veggie garden that keeps me grounded.

I’m still finding my feet as an artist and dreaming of making this more than just a hobby. Every painting I sell means the world to me. It’s not just about making a living, it’s about sharing something real, something joyful.
